Book launch: ‘Preaching in Belfast, 1747–72’

On Tuesday 20 October in St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast, the Bishop of Clogher, the Rt Revd John McDowell, will officially launch Preaching in Belfast, 1747-72.

This book, by Raymond Gillespie and Roibeard Ó Gallachóir, contains a unique collection of twenty sermons written by clergyman James Saurin during his time as Vicar of Belfast. It provides a vivid insight into the mind of a Church of Ireland clergyman in a rapidly changing provincial town at the middle of the eighteenth century and illuminates many of the key issues of the world of provincial Ireland.

This event is free and open to the public; all are welcome to attend. Those who are unavailable to go but would like to purchase the book can see the flyer attached for further details: Preaching in Belfast
