Date for your diary: COIHS Spring Conference, 20 May 2023

The Church of Ireland Historical Society is delighted to announce that it is returning to in-person conferencing. We are excited to return to the Armagh Robinson Library. Our first conference of the year will therefore be held on Saturday, 20 May 2023 and both members and day participants can hear our fantastic four speakers. As always, the first paper will start at 11am, plenty of time to grab your morning tea or coffee and relax from the comfort of the library’s magnificent eighteenth-century surroundings!

Confirmed speakers are Dr Adrian Empey (Trinity College, Dublin), Professor Raymond Gillespie (Maynooth University), and Dr Andrew Holmes (Queen’s University, Belfast). The research paper will be delivered by Ms Tara Shields, who is pursuing his PhD at Queen’s University, Belfast.

The full programme can be seen below.

The conference is open to all members of the public. You can register online here and instructions on how to connect to the conference will be provided by the honorary secretary in due course. Members of the Society have free admission. There is a day fee of €10 (or £10) for non-members to assist with the Society’s expenses, but anyone can become a member for €40 or £40 (please note our student rate is €15 or £15). For further details of our membership package please visit our membership page.

We’re looking forward to an interesting day and hope to see many of you online!
