COIHS November conference, 2014

The Church of Ireland Historical Society’s winter conference will take place at 10.30am on Saturday, 1 November 2014 in the newly refurbished Music Room at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. As usual, enter via the door to Chapter Room where those at the registration table will direct you upstairs. Speakers include Dr Caroline Gallagher (Maynooth University), Revd Canon Patrick Comerford (Church of Ireland Theological Institute) and Dr Martin Maguire (Dundalk Institute of Technology). The research paper will be delivered by Mr Jeffrey Cox (University College Dublin).

Dr Gallagher will speak on First Fruits’ churches in early nineteenth-century Meath. Mr Cox will discuss state negligence and the diocese of Kildare under the Tudor episcopate of Alexander Craic. Revd Canon Comerford will examine the archbishops of Dublin and the deanery of Penkridge, while Dr Maguire assesses Protestant republicans in the revolutionary period, c. 1912-23.

Coffee and registration will begin from 10.30am, followed by the first paper at 11am.
