To celebrate the bicentennial of St Brendan’s Church, Tarbert (Co. Kerry), the Tarbert Historical Society have published a commemorative book entitled St. Brendan’s Church of Ireland, Tarbert, 1814-2014. Two Hundred Years of Change. It contains baptismal records from 1787 to 1916 and details from the local Church of Ireland School, as well as memoirs of the local community. It is a unique and well-researched historical record of an Anglican Community in rural Southwest Ireland and it provides a valuable resource for the genealogy of Anglican, Roman Catholic and Methodist families in North Kerry-West Limerick, the rest of Munster and further afield.
The book will be launched by Professor John Coolahan (Emeritus Professor of Education at NUI Maynooth) after an ecumenical service of thanksgiving in St Brendan’s Church on Sunday, 17 August at 3pm.
All are most welcome.
