COIHS conference, 5 April 2014
The next Church of Ireland Historical Society conference is to be held in the Armagh Public Library on Saturday, 5 April at 10.30am.
Professor Jacqueline Hill will talk about Reverend William Phelan and the historiography of the Church of Ireland; Dr Brendan Scott will examine the 1622 royal visitation of the Church of Ireland in Ulster; while Dr Colin Reid will discuss the Irish Protestant Nationalist, Stephen Gwynn, during the revolutionary period, c. 1912-23. The research paper will be delivered by Mr Ciarán McCabe. He will assess the suppression of street begging in early nineteenth-century Ireland.
