Conference Armagh Robinson Library, Armagh, 05 April 2025
The Church of Ireland Historical Society is delighted to announce its next conference which will take place in the Armagh Robinson Library, Armagh, on Saturday 05 April 2025. As always, the first paper will start at 11am, with tea and coffee available from 10.30am in the 9 Vicars’ Hill.
The speakers and topics for the day are Alan Ford, ‘St Patrick’s Purgatory in seventeenth-century Catholic and Protestant histories’; Ana Dolan, ‘The market cross of monastic origin: Armagh, Kells, Downpatrick and Clones’; Colin Armstrong, ‘Scholarship and controversy in the nineteenth-century Church of Ireland: Edward Hincks of Killyleagh (1792-1866)’; and Ida Milne: ‘The Elmes letters: a Wexford Protestant family at the heart of 1798, and in the longue durée’

The conference is open to members of the public. Members of the society have free admission. There is a day fee of £10/€10 for non-members to assist with the Society’s expenses but anyone can become a member for £40/€40 (student membership £15/€15).
