COIHS conference: 25 April 2015
With just over a week to go, the Church of Ireland Historical Society’s first conference of the year will take place at 11am on Saturday, 25 April 2015 in Armagh Public Library. Tea and coffee will be served from 10.30am. Speakers include Dr Immo Warntjes (Queen’s University, Belfast), Professor Pádraig Ó Riain (University College Cork) and Dr Ida Milne (Queen’s University, Belfast). The research paper will be delivered by Mr Jamie Blake Knox (Trinity College, Dublin).
Dr Warntjes will talk about the Easter controversy of the seventh century. Mr Blake Knox will discuss the historiography of the Church of Ireland in the nineteenth century. Professor Ó Riain will examine the career of William Reeves, while Dr Milne assesses rural Protestants and the GAA.
Anyone is welcome should they wish to attend the conference. Non members are asked to pay €10 or £7 at the registration desk which will be located at the top of the stairs upon entering the library. Those wishing to join the Society can pay online by going to our membership page (this includes lunch in addition to other offers). Annual membership is set at €40 or £35. Students can avail of our special discount rate of just €15 but must present a valid student card at the registration table.
